I always considered blogs to be narcissistic, which is why I never kept one before. On the other hand, I did once start a website, called esse est percipi, i.e. “to be is to be perceived,” though pretty soon after that, I got myself a boyfriend and abandoned the website and all ideas of it, entirely.
George Berkeley (pronounced Bar-klee) said, “Esse est percipi”, back in the 17th-18th centuries, meaning that individuals can only directly know sensations and ideas of objects, not abstractions such as "matter." What I got from that, is you can’t ever conceive of what you have never actually perceived. I was going to let people get to the website by chance, and it was going to have some of my writing, and most importantly, one large work of writing that I wasn’t going to put up anywhere else. Basically, you wouldn’t know this piece of writing existed, unless you saw it, and you wouldn’t know it could exist anywhere because it would be on this site that no one would know existed until they landed on it.
Make any sense? Probably not. That’s my charm.
Anyway. Long story short, I realized there isn’t much different about having a website, where I post my thoughts and writing, or keeping a blog. A blog was easier to come by, cheaper to keep, and easier to maintain. So, cogito ergo sum, I think therefore I am (or rather: I think, I am), and here is my blog. A cyber existence of me (Thanks for planting that seed in my head many years ago, Adil). I’m a writer; I need an audience.

wow back east! sounds like fun - my trip was totally fun, but even spending last weekend here in SF with the bluegrass fest and the fleet week thing and the sunshine, I just love SF! I guess I just got caught up in other things and got lazy with blogging - glad you're back too.
have a great visit in Boston/NY; if you wanna hang out and gab when you get back sometime, send me a holla.
